While all of India was celebrating Holi, the festival of colours, my husband and I decided to take a break away from the city with our son for a little rest and relaxation. Little did we know what a blessing in disguise it was to get away for the weekend. It was a very last minute thing and we made all the bookings only on Thursday evening. For the last 3-4 years, Holi has been celebrated with a lot of gusto in our society. This year was no different, infact was an even bigger celebration. On entering the building we saw the remnants of colour, food, bottles which were being cleaned away. On inquiring we were told that Bollywood item girl Rakhi Sawant with a huge media crew was a part of the celebrations. Apparently, she was invited by someone who lives in the building. So the party went on for hours, with people dancing to music so loud that it disturbed residents living in buildings across the street. Now don't get me wrong, Holi has always been my favourite festival, and still is. I want our son to enjoy it too, but in the same civilized manner in which we used to play as kids. Hopefully when he is a little older we will be able to experience Holi the right way.
